Oldest one so far. When I was a kid, we could not collect coins because they had not been invented yet. That said...

I am aware of the fact that for about 20 years, if not longer, the median age of ANA members has been 55. Typically, they got into coins as kids, dropped out as teenagers, and came back after the kids were gone and/or the career and marriage were under control. We see the same thing in aviation with a lot of old guys completing pilot certifications.

That said - this like the scene in The Right Stuff -... Who was the best numismatist I ever saw? "Well, there were a lot of them, some are just the names of honorary awards now handed out at conventions, and some out still out there, looking at coins with their loupes, going to shows and conventions, and searching the web each day. But there was one guy who really... had... the... ri...."

Stuart Segan was the Trends Editor of Coin World when I was the International Editor. He pushed me to buy my own Breen's Encyclopdia and then to correct it against the CW Library copy... When he was a kid, his Dad took him to coin shows... then, when he was a teenager, he took his Dad. He still liked girls and cars, but he never let them get in the way of coins even in college.

Be that as it may, I try to see the hobby through the eyes of the new collector for whom Kennedy was as old as Lincoln, for whom burnished American Eagles are valid, for whom the Wheat Cent is not a fond memory of better days...

So far the 40 or under are beating the 51-60. But then they might be taking a nap. :p
