It seems I have an affinity for coins from Aeolis Kyme. This one drew my attention because it's appears to have two reverse sides (no portrait). It may not be the prettiest coin, but I found it interesting: AEOLIS, KYME AE 15 OBVERSE: K-Y across fields, Artemis standing right, holding torch and clasping hands with figure standing left, holding transverse spear REVERSE: Two figures in quadriga right; one holding long transverse spear Struck at Aeolis, after 190BC 3.12g, 15mm SNG Cop 113; BMC 96 Post your related coins.
WOW, way cool. Great quadriga! I do not have as slippery a coin as you, but I do have one from the same area: ( Really have NO Earthly reason WHY I have this... I really do not collect in this area... But, it is pretty cool...) AEOLIS: Elaea-Aeolis AE10 1.4g 3rd C BCE Athena-Barley
@Bing That's a great type, one of my favorite bronzes of all the towns of Aeolis, and yours is perfectly centered with super detail. And I'm sure you got a great deal on it, so bravo!
that's a cool little greek coin! i don't remember seeing it before, i saw there are a couple on vcoins right now.
I think that's a really terrific coin----full of detail on both sides!! I had to google this one and found this example on acsearch(not mine) AEOLIS. Kyme. Ae (2nd century BC Obv: K - V Artemis standing right, holding torch and clasping hands with the Amazon Kyme standing left, holding sceptre. Rev: Two figures (Apollo and Kyme) in quadriga right, one holding spear. SNG von Aulock 7698; SNG Copenhagen 113; SNG München 512. Condition: Good very fine. Weight: 3.41 g. Diameter: 16 mm.
The reverses are usually what I find most interesting and you got two on one coin! Very cool. Adding it to The List
