As I will never be able to afford a decent Sestertius of this guy, I made an exception to my rule and got a double Denarius instead. My girl doesn´t like it. What do you think? Does it qualify as a substitution?
Great looking coin, Congrats! I like it. My only Aemilianus: RI Aemilianus 253 CE AE24 Viminacium mint Moesia Bull-Lion - Damnatio Memoriae
I wonder what it is your girlfriend does not like about the coin. That sure is an awkward pose for Pax.
I think it's a fine as a substitution or as a primary purchase. I also wonder what your girlfriend finds objectionable about it... My Antoninianus, a bit rough and even crude:
Not an easy one to find in great condition. All those examples are more than acceptable. I think I need to re-shoot mine... Aemilian, Antoninianus Rome mint, AD 253 IMP CAES AEMILIANVS P F AVG, radiate, draped and cuirassed bust right, seen from behind SPES PVBLICA, Spes standing left, holding flower and lifting skirt 3.70 gr Ref : RCV # 9844, RIC # 20, Cohen # 48 Q
Because it is thin as a piece of paper. It seems like a wonder how it survived because it looks like one could bend and break it with two fingers...
She is correct. Being thin might not make it more breakable but that crack sure will. Handle with care.
