I recently purchased a quantity of rolled BU Lincoln cents. Would it make sense to take them out of their wraps and put the coins in tubes or just leave them in their wrappings? Thank you !!!
Hmmm, I would personally leave them in their wraps to adviod fingerprints, but mabye look at the top couple
Thanks, Brandon. I'm also thinking of leaving them in their wraps and putting them in nickel tubes...
I have about six dozen Mint-wrapped rolls of Westward Journey nickels (2004-2006) and I wanted to preserve the wrappers in near-mint condition. So, I have them stored in the square tubes for nickels, and I put those tubes in the heavy-duty paperboard boxes for nickel rolls. It may be overkill, but it makes it easy to move them around. You can get, both, the square tubes and the storage boxes at JP's Corner online. Chris
I'd keep them rolled... and put them in a safe (if you have one) or a cool, dry place in your home... and if you have some silica gel, put some packets near the coins.
Good ideas, John, thanks. My concern is will the paper in the wrapping adversely affect the toning of the coins... or like the old kraft-colored envelopes, will they enhance the toning ???
You're welcome! Regular paper wrappers you get coins from the bank in shouldn't affect them much... as for the old envelopes, probably not a good idea to keep them in those... I'd need to see a picture of them to be sure though.
And then he put it in a cartridge box, from WWII Then put that in a safe deposit box, which he put in a safe.
No, I put a grenade in the ammo box, pulling the pin and then wedging the grenade against the boxes of nickels and the lid. I didn't use an SDB or a safe because I didn't want them to get damaged when the grenade went off. Chris
