I am having trouble taking good pictures of coins. I am sure I could use a camera will better close-up capabilities, but I am also interested in any tips for good lighting, especially of highly reflective coins like proofs. I have several 1979 type 2 sets and would love to be able to get good pics of the mnt marks. any advice?

Does your camera have a macro lens??

If you don't you can use magnifying glass....hold the glass right up next to the camera and keep moving the camera nearer and nearer to the coin untill it looks clear...(I hope you aren't using a flim camera or this might cost a good little bit) and take a few (10-20 maybe more) photos...sometimes lighting will help....

Use GE Reveal light bulbs when taking coin pics. Makes a world of difference ;)

I've been using my digital (canon A75) in macro mode and focusing through my cheap 8X loop. I'm just amazed the autofocus can handle it. But as Speedy and GDJMSP have said, good lighting will make a huge difference.

    Good luck :)
