Hi folks, I live in Brazil and collect brazilian coins. But I have a few US coins and want your opinion. We dont have NGC or PCGS here.

What do you think about its condition/grade ?
Any help on fair price in the US market ?
Its a 2,5 dollars gold 1861. Philadelphia mint.
Read something abour type 1 or type 2 of this coins but dont know what it means.
    Tks

Does the rim look wavy to you? Not sure if the pics are being distorted on my computer. If so, AU details, and less than $300

I wasn't gonna go as high as AU on the Indian Eagle. Good catch on the rims. They're wavy on my PC too.

We might be talking about different coins. He also posted an Indian Eagle. The inner edge of the rim from 7-9 looks wavy to me.

    bdunnse Who dat?

    what does "wavy" imply?

I noticed the waviness between 6:00 & 9:00 on both sides but, because both the obverse and reverse are wavy in the same area, and because corresponding distortions on both sides should mirror each other about the horizontal axis, I chalked the waviness up to some sort of photographic distortion. It may be a problem coin, but I cannot be sure . . .

Maybe it was enclosed in some piece of jewelry at one time? I saw it too.

Welcome to the forum Anduin. :)

To me, like there's some kind of PMD.

rzage What Goes Around Comes Around .

Is the rim perfectly round , or is it slightly out of round like the others said . If it's out of round It would be worth less , though it is a Civil War year and thus a little more desirable . Though I don't know the premium if any it would bring .

Thank you all. As Santini said there is a lot to be leanrt here. The first coin is perfectly round, it is actually some problem with the photo file compression. I wonder if I am posting this at the right place in the forum since I will be back with more examples that can be of benefit for others begginers as well.

The 2.5 has wavy rims like it was mounted in a bezel. Also possibly cleaned. Au as far as wear. The $10 is xf. And worth about $675-
    At today's gold prices
