Thanks to any responders. I picked up a 1916D Mercury at an estate sale a few weeks back. I figured the chance of it being fake was high (Just did not figure I could be that lucky lol). Anyway, I just took it to a coin show and showed it to 4 dealers including the guru they all referred me to and his booth. ALL of them said it was definitely real. (A Good day for sure). Anyway, it is low grade of course AG-3 to G-4 is what they said as I am not a grader by any means.

My question is, I have never had a coin graded. Any advice of who to have grade it? Any idea how long it takes or how much? Thoughts?

    LindeDad His Walker.

Will cost about fifty dollars and take about forty five days if your a submitting member.

Edit to add it is and will be money well spent as these are often counterfieted and the assurance when selling will pay off.

  4. I would definitely get that coin graded by PCGS or maybe NGC. Nice score! :) TC

Do you want to sell it? Did any of those dealers make you an offer? A rough calculation to submit to PCGS: $50 to join their "collectors club". +$20-ish submission fee, + $25 return shipping, +$8 "handling" fee.

A dealer might charge you $25, I think, to submit it for you; that'd be worth it. Or look into ANACS (even if they are "number 3").

    PS--enjoy the '16D Merc!

Yes, they did make offers but I was just trying to find out if it was real lol. They suggested ANACS since it is lower grade but I thought I would check with you knowledgeable folk here too.
