Has anybody ever sold coins through the Adv section in this forum? Is it worth my/our time? I'd be more than willing to post coins for fair market, if I felt there was an interest. Would anybody out there like to get starter sets of anything? Do you all know about or view the Advertising section?

If you're talking about the Open forum, I've used it before both for buying and selling/giving away. I find I get several responses whenever I post there.

I didn't sell anything, but I gave something away for the cost of postage.

Its not the most efficient form of selling, but it is relaxing and laid back, compared to other venues. Plus, its done with people I tend to trust, so that's a perk.

i hsve not done so, but I would be willing to buy and sell from it.

In fact, I would be interested in buying some Ike's, in 2009, to get a good set started.

I haven't sold anything here yet. I have sold (and bought) quite a bit on ccf.

Once I get a feel for what sorts of things would be of interest here, I might throw a few things up just to see how it goes.

I do sell on eBay (and buy a whole lot), but I don't find the experience as rewarding.

I use the BST's ( buy-sell-trades) as often as possible, and the open forum here as well. I have made some of my fav buys and best sales that way, and it's an excellent networking tool.

In the past year, I have cut my ebay sales to a minimum, and have not suffered a bit of a loss, in fact this year will be my best yet.

I buy and sell with mostly members on here, and have had great experiences. I have never had a problem, and probably never will. :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

I have bought from a few members here in the Open forum and always had a great experience. In fact, I'd rather buy from the members here than on Ebay. The few that I've bought from can be trusted and you can be assured that you'll recieve great deals for great coins.

As long as your advertised prices are 1/4 book, the stuff will go like hot cakes and it they don't sell within two weeks, sell them to Stainless, he loves two week old moldy hot cakes. :eating:

There is something I would like to try, if it is allowable by rules.

May I post a coin (photos) in say, general discussion, with the message that I am going to sell this coin in open forum "for sale" if members can agree to a grade and suggested pricing that I can support?

my reasoning is that I can post once a week in "OPEN" and if I want a good chance of selling it , I would like to know what would be a fair price among the members. No one would be obligated, neither me or the posters. I respect the expertise and market savvy of the members, and this would help me also. It would be similar to a "grade and value" question, but I would be upfront about wanting to sell it.
    Thanks for any comment.

Not really, that's crossing the line. I will say that similar things have happened in the past and they were allowed. But they were only similar because a member posted pics and discussed a coin and then later offered that coin for sale in the Open forum.

Difference is, they did not advertise that they were planning to sell it when they posted it.

Our rules regarding self promotion are not because we want to be hard case about it. They are to protect you guys from the forum being overrun with people advertising stuff. And quite frankly, we don't want people just using the site to sell their stuff. It's fine for contributing members and we make that area of the forum available specifically for our contributing members as a favor to them. But in order to keep it under control, we have the rules.

    Hopefully that makes sense.

That is why I asked first. I can understand the motives and have no problems with it.
    Thanks for the reply.
