I just got these coins back in the mail this morning. I was really surprised to get 1 let alone 2 that graded top pop. It looks like the pop report is now going to reflect 43 at this grade and none higher. I wanted to share ;)

Congrats Matt. Two questions, if you don't mind...

Where did you find these in such a high state of preservation?

Did you dip them before you sent them in?

    Just curious...MIke

These came out of Haynes Tulving slabs of which we bought a large group of recently. I assume they were hand picked in the late 80's or early 90's and the put in those slabs. I didn't dip these coins but they did get an acetone rinse which is normal for any proof I submit. The acetone rinse usually gets rid of light haze and/or possibile finger oil I may have accidentally put on the coin.

CONGRATS! Pretty amazing to nail a 2fer!

+1 on the acetone rinse. This is critical IMO and I also do this. Sometimes it takes years for the prints to show up so why not nip them in the bud before they get a chance. It's a horrible feeling when you pull out an old slab and see a print has developed on the surface.
