For those that are tempted to buy rolls from this area in hopes of finding one of these. Save your money. I live in the area where they are being found. Actually I was the first to report them. Anyway. The banks have now gotten in shipment number 2 and I have went through thousands more and am no longer finding anything. I know most of the people on ebay that have been selling them and from my estimation we are looking at a total of less than 500. I cant say thats accurate, but its based on my findings and findings of others in this small community that I know. Hey this was fun, made a few $$ and got to know EVERY bank teller within 10 miles of here. Happy Error finding! On, and its official. John Adams is the best President we have ever had. I am not sure I would say that that's the total population, but there's certainly fewer than the Washington "rare" errors. At least there aren't 300,000+ of these heh. Though there's likely many, many more not on ebay or being sold, I still think this is a more interesting error than the smooth edge (regardless of the fact that there seems to be much less of them).
Jim- I just did a count on Items listed & Sold totals on Ebay & came up with around 425 total . I personally know some one who has 82 & another of his buddies that has 103 - That are included in that count. I will have to think the # will be closer to a 1000 once they are all out there but that is still pretty rare - 1000 out of over 3 million ?
Much rarer than that rather hopeless washington error...but hey, isn't that what you originally said about them !
