Opinions appreciated on this adam's dollar double lettering. I'm looking to buy 5 or 6 on ebay because it appears so far that every other person and their brother aren't selling them on ebay like they were with the Washington smoothies. I'm predicting that the supply could very well be under 5000, whereas the washington smoothies are around 100,000 so if the smoothies are selling for around $100 in a 65 I would think that with only a fraction of these adams double lettering that there could be alot of upside potential. In addition, I think alot of people are holding off in fear of many more being discovered, but if they don't turn out in groves then does anyone on this board think that $1000+ would be too extreme if quantities are just a few thousand???
For the two way double lettering (not just doubled), first wave seemed to go for $400 to almost $600. Then ~$250 after that, and I haven't checked in a week or so so it might be more or less, but I would be surprised if it went up, let alone to $1,000. Though some company will probably grade one @ MS66 or MS 67 and someone will pay that or more.
From the pictures I saw of these it sure is an error and I think it is a legitimate error worth owning. I don't know how anyone can guess how many were done like this though as I believe one hopper of those coins was around 170,000 coins or so, not sure but it may be there are as many of these as the washington dollars missing the lettering.
