Is this Trade Dollar accurately graded at XF40?

Thanks in advance for any input provided.

35-40 imo... Full text and features everywhere, slightly worn. Not enough to take away from completeness of strike.

Not IMHO, in the VF-35 range.

A little on the optimistic side, to my mind, and not particularly eyeworthy.

Not my series but im guessing that strike or lack there of played a part in the grading process here. I dont drink the TPG koolaid so it might just be an overgraded coin too.

I'd say XF40 is being a bit liberal for this particular coin. I'd say it is around VF 30-34.

I actually agree with the grade. XF40 seems correct. Uneven strike. Really sharp stars on left, flat ones on the right. Original. Looks like no one ever cleaned it. I like it.

I am seeing some scratches on both sides and I don't know what that spot is on the obverse. Carbon? Environmental damage?
I am in the VF-35 grade camp.

I know this is old school but I think the reverse makes a 40, obverse more of a 35. Not a particularly attractive piece, though, IMHO. I imagine a nice XF 45 or AU 50 wouldn't be much more.

The tilted shots show the detail better than the others, but I still think it falls a little short of XF.

Did I just see a Jack Beymer grade above? (34);)

No, I think it is slightly over graded. The reverse is XF40, but the obverse has more noticeable wear, and dings. Overall grade should be VF 30-35.
