what does an abrasive die look like when used to make a penny was just looking at a penny threw mint celo and it looks like it was cleaned theres hundreds of very thin lines/scartches every where besides the raised areas
how does a coin get cleaned in mint celo im usung a 40 x loupe so a scan wouldnt even pick them up there all going in the same direction but only in the fields cart wheel luster still is present
i call them scratches because ts the same effect you get if you drag a sharp point crossed copper the scratch color is brighter then the surface copper color
Sounds like die polish lines. I'm sure the lines are actually raised. Raised lines catch more light and look brighter.
Planchet striations on a woody that didn't oxidize yet. Let me fix that for you Simon: Take your pick A) Cleaning can form incuse scratches or B) Incuse scratches can be from cleaning.
