I think it's the wrong path and that there are other, better options, posted here. I don't think this effort by the CCAC will produce the desired results and may turn out be counterproductive. But, that's my opinion. Your thoughts? Tim
I think the goal is laudable but I don't know if the process will get us better designs. The problem, IMO, is that the coin design process in the US is held hostage by politicians and special interests groups. God forbid if we want to remove Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, or Roosevelt from our circulating coinage. Senators and Congressmen/women would go nuts and the special interests would chime in as well probably saying something like "It's unpatriotic to remove these great Presidents from our coins". I think that the American public would accept coinage that does not feature presidential figures and we need to give our artists more freedom to create truly artistic designs.
