Hello everyone, Last night, I posted about a mysterious half that turned up in a box I was going through over in the CRH forum. I noticed though, that there's a whole group devoted to errors over here. Below is the link to the thread. http://www.cointalk.com/threads/so-i-found-this-piece-of-clad-garbage.237848/ I'd appreciate any input or feedback anyone might offer. Thanks. Barfly
The edges of the two '67s will show two shades of gray, as they are 40% silver. The edge of the '72 will show some gray with a reddish copper core as they are CuNi with no silver content. A different thread will not get a different answer. Nothing special there.
Apparently the edge a 40% Au clad half appears similar to that of a Ni clad at the time of minting and galvanic activity/other chemical reaction greys it over time. Your 67 might just be in good shape.
