At the last FUN show in January, @Insider was kind enough to take in a group of 14 coins for conservation. Many were already in the old red label problem holders but still had a rather high value before they turned black over the years. These coins were so ugly I could never sell them. Insider is one of the best I have ever known with conservation. He brought life back to the coins. Still problem coins but something that many collectors would wish to own. My before images could not look past all the black corrosion but I'll have after images sometime soon. Thank you Insider and ICG. You guys are great.
It's very nice of you to pay homage to @Insider for his expertise in coin conservation, but without the before pictures to quantify what he started with, the after pictures don't showcase his abilities or have much meaning. Please consider showing the before and after pix.
These are an example of my poor before images. I may send the coins out to a friend for the after images. I'll post before and after images as soon as I can get it right. Take a look at what 1846 Half dimes go for. It's still a problem coin but most of the black was removed.
Problem or not, that's a nice example of conservation/preserving/safe guarding/(cleaning?). [tongue in cheek]
