Hello Friends: As many of you know, in the beginning of the Security Engravers Group Presentations a special offer was made to you for the Books "The Intl Engravers Line and The Engravers Line from the Author; Mr. Gene Hessler. Once again there is a special opportunity that you should look at that has been made available to us as a group (all Paper Money Collectors). Mr. Hessler has informed me that any of us can acquire the following books at a huge savings...here they are. Hey! Mister Horn Blower, (my) memoirs of a life in music and numismatics. The Comprehensive Catalog of U.S. Paper Money (6th ed) From a personal note, I have both books and enjoyed "Hey Mr. Horn Blower" very much. So if you are interested in these wonderful books PM me. The cost you ask? Both book's for a $25 fee plus a Great Vignette of the Panamanian Girl shown below. I did the framing work in Photoshop so the vignette will not come with the framing. Regards, RickieB
North49guy.. You are right...back in May 2009 I bought the "Hey Mr. Horn Blower" when I was home with knee surgery..great book on the life of a man who has handled some incredible Paper Money. I cant express what a true value this is so come on guy's lets take advantage of it. The Vignette alone is worth the $25 to me..it is a stunning piece when held in your hands. It is my hope to meet Mr. Hessler in person one day. Regards to all... RickieB
I was just asked if I new the type of covers the books have.. So for your information: The Hey Mr. Horn Blower is a Soft Back Book..the 6th Edition is a soft cover book as well.. the Vignette speakes for itself. ***Edited*** I just went to verify with Gene and the Hard Cover Mr. Horn Blower and the 6th Edition (soft cover) Catalog of U.S. Paper Money is $35. That is what I ordered...since I did not make this clear and misled you all I will cover the 3 folks that PM'd me earlier on the hard cover..whoops!! my mistake. RickieB
Just a note that I have sent your book orders to Mr. Hessler. I covered $10 for each of you for the Hardback Hey Mr. Horn Blower Books as my gift to you (cuz I messed up and did not clarifity the offer). The Hard cover was $35..you guy's only had to come up $25. Enjoy the books..I know I have. Regards, RickieB
Thanks Krispy...hummm Amazing..I think not. It's you guys that are amazing... that you all put up with me. Kind regards, Rick
Just a note for those who may not be aware...the latest edition of the Comprehensive Catalog of U.S. Paper money is the 7th edition (2006) and it is a near total rewrite and significantly better than the 6th edition which was published in 1997 and is going on 13 years old.
Dursin is correct..it is the older Edition. There were 3 people who responded and I sent Mr.. Hessler a note telling him that more than likely most had the 7th edition. He knows and understands this. Let me be the first to say that I am not trying to deceive any of you..Dursins post has an underlying tone of this although he did not come out and say it. I received a note from Mr. Hessler offering this to our group which I did..basically you are getting the 6th Edition free of charge for buying Hey Mr. Horn Blower which is a great book in itself. Let me also say that I do not benefit from this at all, in fact it cost me $30 buck cuz I failed to mention the Hard Cover was $35 and not $25. So in order to put the record straight, I wanted to post this. If for what ever reason you are not happy with your books, by all means I will personally refund your $25 dollars on my own accord. Furthermore, Dursin, I am somewhat disappointed that you would even think I was a person that would openly deceive anyone..this is how I read your post! If I am not mistaken, you have been a recipient of some of my generosity in the past...Mr. Hessler is a well respected man and I am proud of my affiliation with him. I hope to meet him one day in person. I'll tell you what, just because of Dursins statement the 3 of you who wanted the books, well you guy's just edit your check books because I will not cash your checks. For the Money order I received..I will send it back.. It is my pleasure to buy these for you. I have prepared the mailings back for you three..please accept these great books as my Gift to you. I will not be made suspect of deceit, by anyone. Here is a copy of his email to me and my email to him: Hi Rick: Just a reminder that the $25 offer remains for soft cover versions of both books. For those who prefer a hardcover copy of the memoirs, $35 is the price, as you already know. Thanks. Gene In a message dated 1/29/2010 2:53:09 A.M. Eastern Standard Time,: Hello Gene: Hope this finds you doing well? I have had 3 guys express interest. As soon as I receive their details I will email you. Sorry for the low turn out, most of the guy's already have the 7th Edition. Best regards, Rick RickieB
RickieB, I am disappointed that you would jump to conclusions and assume that I meant to imply that you were trying to deceive anyone. I know you better than that and I sorta hoped you knew me better than that as well. That wasn't my intention at all in posting that message and I apologize if that's the impression it gave you. In other words...there was no underlying tone to my message. Please don't attempt to read what isn't there. I only meant to make things clear to people who might have otherwise thought the edition of the book was the most recent.
Rickie, that's a great deal .Last time I got the Int. Engravers Line Special edition with the notes Mr. Hessler signed the book generously added in . Now this is a great deal again ,I have all the books & the 7th edition also, but for those who don't I'd jump on it !
This is indeed a special opportunity! $25 bucks for two author signed books PLUS an engraved vignette! Then RickieB stepped up to cover additional expenses! Now he has even offered to pay for the books in full himself for those who ordered them by returning funds to the buyers! Wow! I meant what I said 100% when I gave my thanks and praise earlier to the "Amazing RickieB!" I've received much from this man in education of notes, contest wins, having ordered both of the Engraver's Line books that came with an engraved vignette!!! His generosity is enormous and his enthusiasm for paper and collecting is infectious and inspirational. I'm glad to see that this seems to have come out as a quickly rectified misunderstanding but all the same the praise is due. Thank you RickieB! :thumb:
Connor1.. This offering got off to a bad start...there were 3 people who ordered this and as mentioned above in another post it has been managed by me personally. If anyone else would like this, the Cost is $35 for the Hard Cover "Hey Mr. Horn Blower" (Soft cover $25) The 6th Edition (soft cover) is basically thrown in with the wonderful vignette of the young lady. As far as the original 3 folks goes, there orders will ship this week from Gene, not me, and their checks have all been returned to them. I am paying for their books as a Gift from me. Regards, RickieB
For the 3 people that ordered these books..please let me know here that you received your checks back and that you received the books as stated. Enjoy the vignettes and the books. This will more than likely be the last that I sponsor such items. Regards, RickieB
RickieB, Thanks for the great deal you got me on The International Engravers Line (Special Edition /signed by Gene Hessler & the bonus notes.) It is in my book case & a beautiful book that reminds me of you and the time and effort you put into getting us this great deal. Thank You, connor1
Thank you all for the kind word's..I just wanted to bring to the group through a revered relationship, opportunities that normally may not exist. I feel it is a privilege to correspond with Mr. Hessler in the manner in which I am afforded. It is you, my internet colleagues in Paper Money Collecting that I think of often. I have enjoyed seeing your own collections grow, however, your knowledge it seems is growing just as quickly if not quicker. Proud to say I know you guy's in a unusual kind of way..through your typed messages. All the same, I thank you in return for what each of you have given to this forum area   Regards, RickieB
I have recieved my check back and cant wait to recieve the books! Thank you so much for the opportunity and I kick myself for not getting that international engravers book when you offered it here. I hope you keep up these offers as I know many of us on here appreciate it a lot!
Got my two signed books and vignettes in today! To my surprise, in addition to the 'Panamanian Girl' vignette, there was a '100' engraved sample card inserted in one of the books! Many thanks to you RickieB... and to Mister Hessler!
Krispy... That is just wonderful..Mr. Hessler is a really a Great Man. Glad you like them and thank you for posting your images and books. Best regards, Rick
