I just posted in the Error forum the wrong thread and coin. My apologies. This was also in my finds for today. A strike through on a 2013-P White Mountain Quarter. It’s a strike through on his neck and it appears to be another one above the TY in LIBERTY. At 7 o’clock, in the area of ARTE in QUARTER, it also looks like a series of small strike through. In hand I can see no metal displacement. In my photos you may see what looks like displacement but from another angle it’s not there. There are a few spots that have coin damage but the areas I mentioned above are not coin damage from handling.
Wonder what the surface of the die looked like after this. Looks like something broke away to cause that.
My thought was metal shavings so to speak. It’s definitely a strike through but I’ve never seen a coin look like this from a strike through.
If you mean something broke away from the die then it would appear raised on the coin. It's usually some foreign material stuck on the die that strikes into the planchet.
