JUDAEA, Aelia Capitolina (Jerusalem). Hadrian, with Antoninus Pius as Caesar. AD 117-138. Æ (20mm, 9.9g). Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Hadrian right / Head of Antoninus right. Meshorer, Aelia 9; Rosenberger 9.

After the Bar Kochba revolt was put down, Jerusalem was renamed Aelia Capitolina and Christians and Jews were expelled from the city. A series of provincial coins were then struck in the newly-renamed city, with this being one of the earliest types. From what I understand, this is one of the scarcer types and in better grades I've seen examples go into the hundreds or thousands. This humble example has plenty of eye appeal and is a great budget example of this interesting historical type.

By the way, the "sandy" patina on this one is completely natural. I found this coin in a large uncleaned lot in which every single one had a similar patina. Most were unidentifiable junk but this one stood out. It might clean up even better but I am no cleaning expert so I'll leave that decision up to the buyer.

I'm asking $40 USD for this coin. Shipping is $3 in the US for USPS first class in a bubble mailer. International shipping, registered or priority mail, etc. can be done at cost. Payment by PayPal F&F, G&S+3% or Google Wallet
