A replacement heap of Widow's Mites (My last Purchase of 2018?)

I did an ancient coin presentation for an adult Bible study class today. Naturally I talked about the Widow’s Offering and the coins that are marketed as such today. I was encouraged by the enthusiasm and interest of the members of the group who were senior citizens for the most part. I was prepared for the questions about authenticity so I was ready with my documents from the various VCoins dealers and Export Licenses from the Israel Antiquities Authority. All of that was unnecessary because none of the members of the class questioned their authenticity. The fact is that many of the folks were jaw-droppingly amazed that they were holding a two thousand year old coin. I forgot to mention that I presented each and every member of the class a gift bag containing two ancient Judaean coins for them to keep. Anyway, we covered the Scripture about the Widow briefly but the seniors were more interested in ancient coin collecting in general. They were so interested that I had some trouble leaving the classroom. They surrounded me and wanted to continue talking about ancient coins, museums, and archeology. They’re wonderful folks and I love them dearly! It was a great experience for me.

I gave away forty or so Judaean coins today so when I returned home, I placed an order for fifty more from one of my favorite dealers. These will likely be my last ancient coin purchases of 2018. I requested ones that are lightly cleaned but still dusty because that’s the way I prefer them. Not shiny—brushed and overly cleaned.

LOL, are you SURE the hubbub interest was about the MITES, or was it for more MINTS... :D

Way to go, Deacon Ray, spreading the Good Word and the word of ancient coins!:angelic::D

I would love to do something like this on a small scale someday. I can see the joy that you get from putting the presentations together and handing out the gifts, I'm inspired by it!

    Keep up the great work!
