Thought I would share this. I recently picked this up in a collection. Guessing date to be somewhere between 1979-1984. Judging from the pics I would say 83-84 probably. (basing this on the rest of the collection. (Most of the unc coins were between those dates. I see the zinc shing through on the scan.

Nice find especially in that condition. As noted to bad no date. At coin shows that kind goes for about $5 or so. With a date it would be $15 or more.

    Ok,
We know it is plated as there is zinc showing through the copper. That means it is minted after the change of composition in 1982. That rules out anything earlier.

When you become very familiar with the dies used in different periods, you can narrow things down a little more. My guess on this one is early 1990s as a strike date. Of course with no date, you cant be sure.

These cents routinely sell for between $2.00 and $5.00 as they are one of the most common error types in the hobby.

    Have Fun,

So, can't retire on this one eh. Bigggggggggg SIGH....... Still thought it was pretty neat looking, I kept it. There is a box full of error coins yet to go through. I opened it long enough to see a clipped IKE. I will post more pics of the errors from this collection as time permits. Thanks for all the input you guys/gals are truly remarkable. Dont know any of you personally, but consider all of your friends. Thanks again.
