acquired off Ebay this week. A little weakness on the Liberty, but still possessing some luster. I like it. <PS that is cat hair on the reverse, not a scratch. Not noticed until after I posted the image.>
Gotta ask......is that a die crack coming off the rim at 12:00 and continuing through Libertys' left eye?
Nice coin looks cleaned but not harshly a nice example of a very under appreciated series as to the cat hair it's pesky stuff gets everywhere
Sure looks like it! I thought the "die crack" on the reverse was interesting......until I read it was a cat hair....
Great coin. I hate when cat hair gets all over my coins. That's why I disallow them from entering the bedroom.
I get cat hair on everything they go where they want their too mouthy otherwise they keep the house and yard rodent free anyway
Sharp eye. I hadn't noticed that. Like everyone else, the cat hair distracted and beyond verifying the scratch running from the I to the wing, wasn't a scratch but just a hair, I didn't look at or even notice the other thing. I just looked under 16x and confirm there is something there. It kind of dosy-does at the nose then runs through the eye and below. It seems fairly shallow (old also). I am not knowledgeable enough to label it as a die issue, vs. a very old scratch. Is there an Overton or VAM ot Newton (or whoever) that matches it? Regarding the pic, I had to change compact cameras last week and am noting the new one (a Pentax) adds a yellow tint to many of my Macro images. It has an automatic LED light in Macro mode and I think/hope that is where the yellow is coming from (I'll be annoyed if the lens is yellow tinted). I have played with the gamma (bless you Irfanview) and submit this one which is much closer to the actual color.
I don't mind the cat hair, but I really, really, hate it when the Tom's spray the coins. Talk about corrosive. LoL
M my boys been fixed but don't let their claws get ahold of em got sharp teeth to test if their real silver and gold too
Ya know Bill? We had a big black cat 'round these parts a few years ago. We called him 'Buster' and he'd check in every so often. Good fellow, but I suspect the rake moved on.......
