I don't know if this question has ever been asked here.

As most everybody in Coin Talk collects notes and coins, Who is the most unusual person that you have on the lookout for your particular item or items that you collect?

I have the banks on the lookout, my wife and kids, which imo are the usual.

My most unusual is the Ice Cream man that comes by every tuesday playing his music. He said last tue. that he goes through about a thousand singles every week, he also let me go through what he had on truck.

    Thanks for any replies, John

    John,

I'm betting an ice cream truck would see a higher amount of old stuff. You know, wow here's daddy's coins and I want ice cream!

I had a guy at a liquor store looking for me for a while. Was weird went in for a six pack and there was one of my old employees and he had star notes under the till. He remembered I saved them when I was his boss.

He went on to a better job so now I have no one BUT my wife may soon be employed again (yippee!) working at a payday loan place. They get CASH and she has a pretty good idea what to look for.

Is she weird? Has to be to some extent as she's been with me for over 20 years!

The cashier I buy coffee from each morning looks for half dollars for me.

Nobody, not to many Liberty Cap Large cents or 18th centurty British tokens show up in the tills around here.

Liquor stores and the bank are my main sources. Nothing unusual about that. All the tellers know that I collect & they save stuff for me.
Once I got 36 pristine 1953 & 1953A red seal deuces at the bank. 3 were stars. 6 consecutive serial #'s. What a find!
Got a 1928G deuce and two rolls of old wheats at a cigarette store this summer.

Your lucky because most tellers know what silver is and most will keep it for themselves.

No one looks out for me anymore . When I used to work at Starbucks, all the other employees kept a lookout for wheaties and silver and things like that. I'm a likable guy, and everyone knew I collected, so no one ever thought twice about giving up silver or anything like that.

My wife sorta keeps a lookout for things of that nature, but usually when she shows me something she thinks I might want to keep, it's usually some well-worn 1965 quarter or something, ha.

I have a couple friends looking for me. The best one does volunteer work sorting through coins that charities get and then rolling them. He takes out all the good ones and replaces them. Have gotten a couple of good ones so far :)

I have plenty of the usual looking out for me. What is cool is that they will let their friends and colleagues know that I collect paper money. So sometimes I get interesting stuff from people I don't even know through them.
