Could someone please explain what the toupee variety lincoln cent is exactly? Is it an actual variety or a silly creation?

    Thank you so much!!

ANACS designation for an overpolished 2009 Log Cabin Cent obverse, near as I can tell.

It was probably suggested by someone who wanted to make a bunch selling a few dozen of them on FleaBay.

@SuperDave I've read a few articles/ opinion pieces on a few of the grading companies....I've read that ANACS and ICG had some questionable grading issues. So a grading company can just designate a new variety?

Sure they can. You can. I can. There is no governing authority. There are "accepted" sources for new variety designations - Leroy Van Allen for Morgan varieties, for instance - but the variety designations we use are only there via public acceptance of their authors' authority on the matter.

There is also "SleazeBay" and I don't think an explanation is necessary.

We are at once contemptuous of and dependent on Ebay. It's a very love-hate relationship. :)
