A question about my 1914-D wheatie ...

    I know it is'nt the greatest picture. But could anyone explain why the E in ONE is missing it's middle protrusion? Did it get chipped or rubbed off ... as in PMD ? I have looked with a magnifying glass and I'm not seeing any evidence of it. Maybe it will become clear once I treat it with Verdi-care .. Thanks for the input .

    did you dig this up or something? Whether or not the middle part of the E is pmd i don't think it would be something to care much about ... sorry that probably didn't answer much lol

    With the metal detecting find, I would think it chipped off.

    chipped, or scraped. you can see where it used to be at. PMD

    Three possible explanations:

    First, it corroded off.
    Second, it was removed via post-mint damage (intentional or otherwise).
    Third, it was never there because of a grease filled die.
