I’ve been collecting pressed pennies for years and have never seen a pressed quarter machine. Amazing.

this one even lead to a very nice ghost image of 2020 Salt River Bay reverse.

Obverse compared to reverse doesn't even look like the same coin. Either way I like it thanks for the look-see.

I think I have the angle a bit off, as the bottom does look less oblong than the top picture

    Hope it wasn't a W mint mark!

It’s not a ghost image of Salt Bay, it’s the actual image that was on the coin. The rollers on the Quarter rolling machines don’t have enough pressure to remove the original image, they just flatten it. In my opinion I like that as it gives the elongated coin a nice appearance.

I should have clarified, I know it’s not a “ghost” image, but it’s a rather “ghostly” image.

On the manual crank penny presses I try to go extra slow in the hopes of getting a ghostly image to remain on the back.

I too haven't seen a machine for elongating quarters, so that is interesting. I did sneak a dime into a penny press once and it came out just as nice and with a silver color to boot. LOL

I once had one of these from when I last visited Nauticus in 2010. Unfortunately, it would seem that I had lost it sometime in the past 12 years.

Besides, if you get a chance, be sure to visit the Mariners' Museum in Newport News; it's well worth the price of admission, but plan accordingly. One can easily spend an entire day there, provided you have a keen interest in naval history.
