    Hello all,

Up for Guessing the Grade are two completely unrelated coins (well they are both from the 19th century, so there are some similarities )

Yes the Russian coin is a 5 kopek from the era when Nicholas I ruled.

It was minted at Yekaterinburg (alternatively Ekaterinburg) ...that is what the "E.M." is for.

    1. Lovely toner. 58 or 60.

    2. Not the faintest clue though it's neat.

    Well here are the results

(Note: some people got the grade for the Seated Half and some got the proof part, but no one got both together).

The Russian coin looks nice despite a potential old cleaning

This was a total guess. I have seen a lot of world coins lately that are very weakly struck. Is that your finger reflecting off the slab?

In terms of strike, the technology or the quality control was likely not good enough in those times. However, I have seen some really nice coins from that time (at least the pictures look good, especially of the few proof Russian coins that I have seen online).

As to the reflection, I'm not sure; that might be a part of the camera and the shadow of a finger on the slab.
