I'm not sure whether this is allowed here. Anyway, the problem is, I want to buy a particular coin from Mr.Clark Smith of www.coinvault.com. I do have VISA and MASTERCARD with me. But Mr. Clark Smith does not accept credit card payments or paypal. As I'm from India, it is illegal to send cash through mail. Is there any facility which can work as a mediator for me? So that they can make the payment on behalf of me? Please help me in this regard.
go to your bank and get a check made out in us dollars. i have done that in the past and its legal you can also do wire transfer with western union if you like.
I tried that.. But I need an account for the same and it needs quite a bit of deposit here. What I want to know is whether there is any site which can accept payment from me through credit card and pay the amount to Mr.Clark Smith as he wanted..
got to currency changer like thomas cook and they will make out a check without any deposit or accounts. Sites usually will not turn credit into cash but maybe u can ask ur card company for some checks its pretty common here. hope this helps.
okay... thanx for that.. I'll inquire about it.. hopefully, they'll find a solution for this..:thumb:
There should be Western Union in India too which you should check Western Union's website. You can send money via instant transfer or money order but be warned about the hefty fees and bad exchange rate. There is also a limit to how much you can send at once. I have a vague memory that it can cost up to 10+% in commission so be warned.
I went to the Western Union and they told me that I can accept money from them... but can send to only relatives abroad.
Wait, I don't get it. Western Union only allows money order or instant transfer to your relatives?! What kind of nonsense is that? Or maybe that's a regulation in India??? Have you tried another Western Union outlet just in case that person in charge of that day had no idea what he / she was talking about?
At www.xetrade.com you can purchase major world currencies with other major world currency, usually at a better exchange rate than your credit card company will give you. They will issue and mail a draft in the recipient's currency, after you pay them the equivalent amount in your own currency. I use the arrangement where they electronically withdraw funds from my bank account, but I believe you can make other arrangements for paying them. They are located in Canada, and in addition to Japanese Yen I have used them for transactions in Great British Pounds, Euros, and Australian dollars. They do small transactions as well as large ones. They are a major buyer/seller of foreign exchange, and all communications through their site are encrypted. (I am not affiliated with them in any way, but I really wish I could buy some stock!)
It would be difficult if you were sending any cash to a vendor in India,as there are strict regulations as part of the infamous 'permit raj',which dates from when Jawaharlal Nehru was Prime Minister of India (1947-64). I think it is illegal in India to receive cash from overseas.Biju,if you can confirm this, that would be good.If it isn't illegal in India to receive US$ (or another major currency, such as Euros or Pounds Sterling) as payment, then it would work in both parties' favour,as the other party is only going to change it into Rupees at the current exchange rate at that time. Aidan.
Aidan, it is illegal to receive or send cash here in India. The only method for me is credit card. I use paypal frequently. And if you need an international bank account, there are several formalities which I cannot bear.
spiralstreet, if Roy's method doesn't work, the last option is to ask a seller that frequently accepts your paypal or credit card payment and explain the situation to him. Maybe he would do it for a comission or somehow. If you can use paypal or credit card, situation isn't too doomed yet. The question is who would be the third party to help you out with this situation.
Howdy Have you told Mr Clark about your problem?....I'm pretty sure you can send cash through the mail but you can't insure it so if it is lost...too bad. If I remember right you can only insure "collectable" coins/money as they won't even let me insure State Quarters when I ship about 10 rolls to a friend of mine.....we do that every time that a new state comes out and have yet to lose a package. Speedy
Speedy ... its not like that.. If it is found that there was cash in the envelope, then, I'll be held responsible for breaching the law.. and there will be punishments..
Seems that dealer has a euro account in Paris http://www.coinvault.com/order.htm ... So if everything else fails, you could send the amount to my PayPal account (note that PayPal charges 3.9 % of the amount plus €0.35), I could transfer the payment to his French account, and Mr Smith would then ship the order to your address. A little awkward, so think of this as one of your very last straws but it should work. Christian
wow!!! thats great.. First, I'll contact Mr. Smith and let you know about it. Meanwhile, I'll PM you about the details.. Thanx a lot Christian..
I found this place that allows you to buy money orders with a credit card. I have never used them, so I can not tell you anything more about them, or if they will even accept customers from outside the USA. But you might want to try to contact them. orionpay.com
The payment is made !!!! Mr.Clark contacted me today.. Thanx to Christian ... I dont know what shall I do for Christian
