I will send a special prize of a piece of silk notgeld from the German city of Bielefeld to the first person to identify the signature on the back of this note AND why this note was chosen for the courtesy autograph. I will tell the tale of the signature after the answer is revealed.
I dunno..Ive ehausted all online avenues to try to figure out what that is anyway.Everytime i try to search any of the key words, all the results are in German. Ill take a wild gues...is that Eva Brauns signature?
Not really. There have been two words hear that are capitalized...SIGN and NOTE. Was thinking that maybe NOTE referred to something to do with music, but can't think of any noteworthy German musicians or composers...that are still alive. There was an obscure song called Signs as well by five man electric band which was later covered by Tesla, but can't find a connection there either. So, that leads me back to thinking those two words have to do with SIGNing a NOTE which really doesn't provide any new information...
I love the analysis but you are thinking too hard! It is not musically related. The answer can be found in the number of notes.
So. does that mean the answer can be found in this MPRA paper titled "The US Dollar and the Euro: Deus Ex-Machina" ? http://mpra.ub.uni-muenchen.de/8855/1/MPRA_paper_8855.pdf The autograph is too short to match the author (Maria Lorca-Susino) and I'm still stumped...and I've put enough time into this now that I probably could have earned enough to buy a couple of those silk notged thingies if I had spent the time doing something productive. Still fun though...always enjoy a challenge!
well the number of notes is 8855 .... plus whatever was issued after the note was stamped... IF those are important. otherwise, the number 8855 is SIGNificant
One final clue . . . He should be well-known to those who frequent these pages but most probably never think twice about the man when they reference his name.
Still not sure why this note. He was born the prior year (May 15, 1922) in Germany so perhaps because this was a German note? Must be more to it than that though.
Ah, Wikipedia helps...because the bank, Bavarian Mortgages and Exchange Bank (Bayerische Hypotheken- und Wechselbank, now HypoVereinsbank) received his collection when it became too extensive? He was also curator at that bank for a couple years...
WE HAVE A WINNER!!!!!! It is Albert Pick. A friend of mine (my mentor as a paper money collector) has known Albert Pick since the 1960s. My friend obtained the signature for me. Unfortunately, it was the only note I had from the Bayerische Hypotheken und Wechselbank. It was in such lousy condition that I was a little embarrassed for it to be used for this purpose. Dursin, PM me with your address and the notgeld will be on its way.
No Way you are Wrong :crying: No way it is Well the front is easy Bavarian depositen casse hersbruck pays against this check at the Uberbringer mk. One hundred thousand. It is a Old German Check or a Bank note. The back I think I got the name Aurelie Piel How do you get Albert from that?
congrats dursin lol i spent a couple hours on this today .. never even came close to the right answer. I dont think i would have even if i did get a crack at researching the final hint lol
