Okay...so I have a small pile of $5 Red Seal US Notes including star notes...and I can't for the life of me figure out how to tell the Issuing Bank. The Guide Book of United States Paper Money doesn't explain how to tell, Google searches and eBay searches aren't helping...so where should I look?

Is it the small number on the back right?

Is it the letter in the serial #?

Thanks for helping me out... :)

US Notes (Red Seals) did not have an issuing bank like Federal Reserve Notes.

Okay...finally figured it out. I was looking under green seal FRN...finally found the right page in the book. Kind of annoying how it skips around like this...

Just look at the note, along the top margin of the notes: a red seal in this series says, "United States Note" (or Legal Tender note), and the green seal (or Brown seal Hawaii overstamp) say, "Federal Reserve Note", a blue seal (and Yellow seal North Africa issue) says, "Silver Certificate"...
