I am currently putting together all of the mint sets from the last 50 years to go along with my collection of proof sets from the same time period. granted this is low dollar stuff but once in awhile I get a deal on ebay that makes me smile. I did alot of research of dozens of internet sites and have found mintproducts.com to have the best prices on mint and proof sets. I try and base my bidding on getting it cheaper than I could on that site. If i buy something from there the s%h is $4.95 so I look at that as well when bidding. I just won the following auction, and though the s&h was high, $4.90 I can't beat the price to fill a void in my collection. Check out Item # 170362703005 and let me know what you think!!:loud:
I suspect that the 1958 mint set might go fo a little bit more. Most I've seen for sale have had coins picked out & possibly replaced with high grade business strikes. It sounds like a nice collection Biggiej. Very best regards, collect89
So where's the gun? You stole that one Biggie... Terrific bargain. Don't know for sure but I'll bet I paid more than that when I ordered that set from the mint back in '78. I've used mintproducts.com and have always been satisfied ('cept for some slow shipping on occasion).
When I was doing my research before i started buying my proof sets, I went through a bunch of coin magazines and got names of dealers and went on the web and looked at tons more. i finally picked out 25 and built a spreadsheet of all the proof sets from 1959 to 2009 to compare price. I would say that mintproducts was low on over 95% of the sets. In most cases by quite a bit. I bought a few from them and have been very satisfied. Of course before coming to school here at CoinTalk I was glued to the TV 3 nights a week watching the coin vault and waiting for the day they would have something on there I could afford. That day never came and since I have looked at what some of the members here have had for sale in the open forum, I see how bad of deals they really have on that show!!!:kewl:
