Priceless....I mean worthless. All of these have been pulled from rolls over the years. Probably a much harder holed set to put together than say large cents.
Well, somebody drilled a partial hole right in Kennedy's forehead. Tasteless, huh. You can kind of see it in the pics.
Actually, there are people who collect holed coins. I personally don't like them, but these may have collector value to someone else.
I know a handful of folks who collect holed coins. But to be honest, I don't know if they would collect holed Kennedys.
You're probably right, Ziggy, but I don't like the idea of putting down a type of coin that people might want to collect. Granted, right off the top of my head, I can't think of anyone who would want these, but I'm sure someone is out there. And I certainly wouldn't want any post on this forum to make someone feel unwelcome or defensive. We have a lot of "lurkers" who do a lot of reading before they decide to join the forum. I would hate to put any of them off and make them not feel welcome. Just a thought.
I'm definately not trying to start a debate. I just pull these from rolls as I search through them for silver and proof coins. The hoarder and accumulator in me won't let me get rid of them and I thought it might be a fun post. Later I might put up a scan of the proof Kennedy's I've got that came out of rolls.
I'm sure that you didn't. It was just a thought that I had about what the posts would look like to potential members.
Oh, sure -- there are collectors for everything, and that's a good thing. I'm just saying that most of the holed coin collectors I know tend toward older stuff. It has nothing to do with a value judgment on what people are collecting.
seeing as how they were meant to memorialize an assassinated President it seems odd that someone would think it appropriate to drill a hole in his head. It just doesn't seem particularly respectful. my2¢
