http://www.birminghampost.net/birmi...arack-obama-presidential-coin-65233-21832869/ Maybe a "Dewey defeats Truman" moment for these guys. Added note. Not trying to make a political statement. Just wondering why they don't mint both candidate coins since the election hasn't happened yet. Guess the Brits have an inside track on ther results already.
I'm sure it's just an opportunity to make money. Someone else will probably mint a McCain coin for the same reason.
Any coin made with either candidate on them as being the actual President and they don't win the election, will be worth a nice bit down the road, considering they weren't the President. So I'd buy a bunch of McCain coins so I can make money off them. Ribbit
I'll just wait till 2076 and pick up the Obama Presidential Dollar when they're released....providing I'm still alive. Guy~
This reminds me of when I read that to make sure they have the Super Bowl champion T-shirsts ready for the winning team for the post-Super Bowl celebration, they make up shirts for both teams... the ones made for the losing team get donated to homeless shelters (some homeless guys have shirts declaring the Patriots as Super Bowl Champions last year, somewhere...) I imagine these would make good collectibles for people who save things like campaign buttons. For both the winner and the loser... Not to make any political statement, but the two major candidates are still pretty close to tied so way to early to try to call it. You can't look at polls now and declare either Obama or McCain as the obvious winner yet. A lot can happen in the next month and a half. I still remember the 2000 election coverage with the "Gore won... not wait Bush... no wait, too close to call..." moments... the news you can update, a lot harder to re-mint a coin lol...
