A little of this and.....that case!

I had a nice oak display case laying around from another project years ago.
I decided to put together a fun display of this and that items collected over the years.
The enamelled fish pins were hand made by a local artist.....the pins long out lasting sun bleached caps they once were attached to.
The other plus side of this little project was realizing the value of some of these coins and medals. It first started with coppers and brass....then I decieded to add a little color.

I see that you have one of my favorite American-made medals in the case - the USS Enterprise - produced by Medallic Art Co. in 1960 - 63.5mm - 4.55oz .999+FS.

The same medal different size that was actually removed from the invitation card for the day of launch! If you recieved one of these invites you were special. And yes a very sweet medal.

Oh and some of these specimens were gifts,or aquired from members from here on CT. An 1944 toned Canadian dime from Spirtyoda, there are 3 nice pieces" Dan Zig" from Mike, an 1952 three pence toned from Figi that is so colorful was aquired from a good friend Keith who is a world coin dealer.

So, it is 38-39mm, but the medal in the case looks like it is silver, and the one you show for comparison looks to be bronze. Are there two of that size. I ask because I have both the silver and bronze in 63.5mm. ~ Chris

 

So-Called Dollar HK-578. There were 15,000 struck in bronze.

 

No its in brass and smaller as they were included in the invite to Norfolk Va. For the launch. And Chris very much a part of our time in history .....I was in 1st grade , and in kindergarden when the 1 st. Nuclear sub sailed under the north pole.

I wish I could get the USS Enterprise coin/medal. My brother served on her off and on for about 4 years during the Vietnam fiasco. He's almost 70 and loves to go through his pictures. I had a picture of him on the deck while off the coast of VN. He loved his ship. He was one of the programmers that fired her guns. I'm not sure about the correctness of my references. I was in the 82nd. My father was over there too, in the army. He was in charge of fixing helicopter and small fixed winged airplanes. Anyway, I would sure like to get one for my brother.

Love the display, but I’m not sure I’d put red copper in there and expect it to remain red.

 

Probably not....but again the values in this case range from a few bucks to a few hundred....but the red copper pieces aren't high dollar items.
