Want to share one of my recent auction wins. It is a reverse die cap Delaware state quarter error, at a very high grade of MS68. According to error-ref.com (weblink below), the characteristic of reverse die cap is that the "periphery of the reverse face is cupped toward the anvil die. The obverse design of the die cap has expanded outwards from striking at least one planchet that was fed on top of it." I like seeing coin distortion on the reverse side, so I am very fond of this error type. http://www.error-ref.com/reverse-die-cap/ MS68 is a very high grade for business strike errors. A plus in my consideration. Here is the coin. Still in the mail, but I want it to be in my 1,000th post. So, I am using the seller photos instead.
Who forgets to remove the die cap before switching on the press? How does that conversation go? "...excuse me, Boss. I'm all outta die caps."
