Most of the members here on Coin Talk know me as proponent of moderns and the collecting thereof......more specifically collecting such from the US Mint. I've bought mint products from them directly ever since I was a wee lad of 10. As a boy collecting mint and proof sets, the prices there were affordable and I could always rely on the fact that I'd receive a quality product. As all of you know, the mint has made some price adjustments to their product offerings due to the sheer and utter instabilities related to the price of silver. I can understand that, but the premiums associated with the cost of production exceed my ability to justify my continuation of purchase of such. One of the most egregious price hikes is the mint set, which doesn't contain any silver at all. With a face value of $ 5.82 (and purchased for $33.25 in July 2025) they now project a cost of $124.50. How can they justify such an increase in price? Where's the gun? Did the spot price for pot metal increase too? I'm done......subscriptions cancelled. No more buying from crooks. After market from now on.........
Yes, I saw the $124.50 at the website for mint sets. Yowzers! And $245 for the silver set. I won't be buying at THOSE prices.
