my dad was in the hospital forever and got out last month and after regain energy at home he finally sent me my birthday gift of some coins. nothing that valuable but its the thought for me that counts. .
Nice selection and a nice gift, makes them even more special. The 1955 cent with doubled last 5 is known as a poor man's doubled die. Thanks for sharing your presents with us.
I'm old, and my dad has been gone for 25 years. I still have the last coin he bought for me. It was at a flea market that was connected with a country auction. I picked the coin out, but he paid for it. It is a tangible item that is left from a fond memory.
I don't know if you knew of your father's coin collection, but, I didn't find out about it until after my mother had passed also. He left his coin collection to my brother and me. Most of them were coins started in the 1900's. He had a lot of doubles, so my brother sent me a list of the coins to divide. My brother lives in Southern California and i live in Eastern North Carolina. I did get a whole collection of the IHCs (except the 1877, too costly).
. yea I knew of his collection, he started telling me about coins when I was in my early teens and now I am 29. my mom divorced him when I was 4 and my dad was in and out of my life since. he owned my mom money but could not pay here back so she said give me something kell might like down the road that is equal to what he owned her. my mom kept all those coins till I was 12 and told me all that. I've been collecting here and there ever since. now that I am 29 I made the choice to become closer to my father and he collectects still and we are always talking about coins.
