Hello, I have two 1900 and one 1897 Morgans. What do you think their grades are? The photos aren't the best; Do you think any of these Morgans are proof- like (or impaired proof-like)? Thanks!!!
If they were prooflike the fields would look like mirrors , tpg use a method of how many inches of reflection you can see for their varying degrees ie PL , DMPL . Your don't look PL . Both look about MS-62 . rzage
There is no such term as "impaired proof-like". "Proof-like" describes a business strike coin that has very reflective fields. "Impaired proof" is a proof coin that has been circulated or otherwise damaged. Your coins do not appear to be either proof or proof-like. It's hard to say what they would grade due to the odd camera angle and the lighting.
pics showing reflectiveness I added two more pictures in order to attempt to better show the reflective qualities of one of the 1900s. Thanks for the input!
Put anewspaper next to it if you can read at least 3 inches actually 5 inches of the paper in the reflection it would be PL . rzage
Thanks everyone for all of the input. I can see how the second set of pics make them look polished; the were directly in the sun. Looking at them up close, as in my earlier pics, I don't see (layman eyes) any clean/polish marks. I wish I had a better camera in order to show the coins as they look in person. Anyway thanks...additional input would still be interested
