A few more shots of 2006 SD quarter.

Discussion in 'Error Coins' started by John Jovanovich, Dec 28, 2017.

  1. Hello All. I posted this in coin chat by mistake.....I took a few more shots of this quarter to see if anyone can see what I see. The out of focus shot hopefully brings out the S under Q in quarter. There is a pit around the eye and nose bridge I believe may be another eye. I tried hard to bring out the Y above the B in liberty and there is a Pillar of a letter above liberty also. Please look very hard and let me know if you can tell. Thanks All.

    You're finding minor anomalies
on a product that is produced
with metal dies on metal planchets,
    with 60-85 tons of pressure.

On many many modern coins such
as these, there is die deterioration,
    overused dies, mechanical doubling,
    minor struck thru's, etc.

In the purest sense of the word, they
might be considered an error(s) on the
coin, but in reality, that's how metal
objects, struck in the tens to hundreds
    of thousands, look like.

Good study points as far as the minting
process, but not significant enough to
bring premiums.....good to add to a
collection of 'different' items found in
circulation or in new rolls/bags, but not
good enough to sell for any decent premium.

Four threads on the same coin? just about all these answers have been given in the other three,
    Why? It's a spender!

    Normal deterioration.

Perhaps you are looking a little too hard with the microscope?

For me, unless I can see something plainly with the naked eye, I don't get excited about it.
