Can you tell me whats wrong with the 1974 penny, I checked the weight and a 1974 copper in ms shape is 3.07 grams and this one is 3.01 a little light and with out the copper color and buy looking close has a very smooth finish in places.. so I dont think it was striped of the copper like i have seen on others.. the other coin I thought might of been in a fire, but not sure .
well Png will be here at a coin show in a few weeks so i will have them take a look. I found a nice ms 1909 vdb witch is in the best shape i have seen
Can't quite tell what's going on with the first coin. Second coin looks like it was either heated or dipped in acid.
Hey No cents DO you think It's a coin I should have look at? The 1974, At first I thought it was alum, but once I put it on the scale I could tell it was not.
The 1974 is toned. I've seen cents turn white before, but not as evenly as this coin here. I believe that the coin is within the weight requirements but your scale being off a bit could be a possibility also. And I agree with non cents, that other is a zincoln thats probably was heated with a torch. Zinc melts at a lower temperature than copper so those are heat blisters, rather than a plating issue.
