It's a bit slow this morning so I decided to start a show-and-tell thread. I'll add items maybe twice a week. You won't see the most pristine examples you've ever seen, but you will see the best that I figure I'll ever own. The first coin will be a 1893-S Morgan. I believe that I got it in the last half of the 70's and I remember it costing me $750. I can also remember thinking I can't tell my wife how much I spent on it Turns out to have probably been my best ever purchase in terms of value growth. A professional appraiser (former major TPG grader) told me that for the grade it is an exceptional coin. Apparently most 1893-S coins in this grade have LOTS of detracting scratches/marks. Here it it:
Wow, thats a nice one. And your grader friend was right. I see those at all the major shows and they all seem to have the pox, or a gouge. I saw one three years ago at the denver show that looked like it had been peppered with a shotgun. That is an exceptional piece.
Thanks for sharing. I like it! You have a right toi be proud of owning it. Looking forward to sering more of your collection in the future. Clinker
