If your 16th birthday is after October 5 (GMT) you are eligible in this contest. I guarantee that the prizes (which haven't been selected yet) will please you.

    • Where did the Euro first circulate
    • Why there?

Post as many guesses as you wish. PM me with your birthdate the first time you post in this thread.

There will be a prize for the youngest person to answer the first question, and another for the first qualified poster with the correct answer to both parts. (If the youngest responder gets both parts, the second youngest will get the age prize.)

If one of your parents is a member, you may post under his/her membership name, but adults - on your honor - only post answers your YN actually came up with on his/her own!

The contest will end when a winning answer to both parts is posted, and if no one succeeds, it will end on 10/5/09 at 11:59 p.m. Greenwich Mean Time.

I'll announce the winners within 24 hours after the contest ends.

Germany was the first to officially cease their old currency.

But, the island of Réunion in the Indian Ocean was the first area to ever use the Euro because of their time zone. 1kg of lychee fruits was the first euro purchase ever.

Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg, France, Germany and Italy were the first countries to have the euro. The reson they started the eruo in these countries was because When companies and people in different europiean countries use money like with trading, and travelling the dont have to swith money or have to fugure out how much it worth in the other countrie!

    Thanks for the contest!! :D

    Congratulations to 15-year-old CoinKeeper.

PM your mailing address, for BOTH prizes. As the only entrant to mention Reunion you were obviously the youngest, and you were also the only entrant to give the correct reason for its being the first place Euros circulated.
