We've had plenty of threads about dishonest and just plain bad sellers and auctions on eBay. How about some good, honest dealers? I've found one guy whose auctions are always top-notch: he has great pictures and fantastic, honest descriptions of his coins. As a result, his coins often go for a premium. I've bought around 8 or so coins from him, and everything has been exactly as advertised.

    Here's one of his auctions:

His eBay ID is bestcrystal and here's a link to his stuff:

Who else has had good experiences with sellers on eBay? Who can you recommend without reservations?

and would buy more US coins from here again,

I was happy with what I got from Apache, and would buy again from them. One of my criteria is how fast a seller is in shipping. Also if they care enough to leave feedback. Apache is great on both.

I've found that any Ebay seller with thousands of positive and NO (zero, nada, 0) negative feedback are usually a safe bet. You don't get 100% positive ratings in the thousands without working with folks.

Really, think about your local dealer. At least in my area, more have upset me to an extent that I would never return than I even care to think about.

Just my two cents...been awhile since I've been here.

Ernie is a seller with tons of raw coins on eBay. The prices may be a bit higher than other sellers, but I think they are fair and I haven't been disappointed yet:

'ernie' is just the moniker that http://www.ebwcoin.com uses on eBay, so you can also go straight to the source too.

Webenn is another seller I have bought a lot of coins from, always got good service, fast shipping, and nice coins. He closed down shop over the holidays though, but claims he'll be back real soon now in his store page.

I'm happy that you are happy with Ernie, but I sure wouldn't buy from him. Just my honest opinion.

What's up with Ernie? I just bought a draped cent from him, and now I'm nervous. I have had a very negative occurance with a seller from eBay, a 2001 Buffalo Dollar I never recieved. EBay did refund most of what I've lost, but that took a total of three months to get that back. I hope Ernie's a good enough person to at least give me what was pictured, unlike MRMOONDOGY, he'll show you one coin, and you get a different coin "cleaned" a week later. I even asked him if that was the coin winning bidder will recieve, and he replied yes! As soon as I opened it, I seen a different story. I just don't know why someone would ruin a very nicely detailed coin, for a shiney POS!

WHAT???? I would never buy from ernie---most of the time he sells a problem coins as a no problem coins...over grades all of the time

But I can't believe that it is also ebwcoin---I bought one coin from them---it was a 1926-S Buff Nickel graded by PCI F15---I think I paid $110...I sent it to NGC, ($25) and it came back VF20....I sold it to DLRC for $250....so I had $135 in the coin...and made $115!

Thats the main reason I only buy NGC and PCGS graded coins offa ebay, mail order or sight unseen...

even thats not a 100% safe...

I only buy raw coins in person @ the local guys unless I'm just really in the mood to gamble...

I will not deal with Ernie either. In fact I have him blocked in my advanced searches on Ebay. You can do this by clicking advanced search, sellers, exclude....and list up to ten.

His stuff is seem so over graded. Doesn't disclose hairlines or cleaning.

I have to put up a great seller for high quality Mercs. If you read my thread about the 1916 dime you know why I like this seller. His ebay ID is DavidsCoinShop.

If you really know your coins, then you can buy from Ernie. He'll send you what you buy. But you need to be able to grade properly to judge his coins and you also better know what a fair price is for that coin. Most of the time the stuff he offers is way overpriced and vastly overgraded.

Sellers that Ive had great experiences with are saulwww and Coinmaster1955. I bought my 1932-s (fine) Washington Quarter from saulwww for $135 and it was accurately graded and Ive bought some IHCs from Coinmaster1955 that I was very satisfied with. Of course, JPs Corner is always a favorite of mine. Victor, a member of CoinTalk, is a very good seller on Ebay, I am very happy with the Kennedys I bought from him.

Strange how people have different experiences. Anyhow, I do ignore most seller's grading on eBay, so if ernie overgrades I haven't paid attention. I've bought mostly circulated Morgans from him, and he does seem to take care to note any problems a coin may have where-as most people don't mention them. He should really find a better way to image the coins though - I'm about 99% sure he's using a cheap flatbed scanner, and the coins look much better in hand. Perhaps it's just luck? As always, buyer beware.
