My newest pickup! What do you guys think? Octavian, as Imperator and Triumvir (43-33 BC). AR denarius (21mm, 3.90 gm, 4h). NGC Choice XF 4/5 - 4/5. Southern or central Italian mint, ca. 30-29 BC. Laureate head of Augustus right / IMP-CAESAR, statue of Octavian (?) standing facing, nude but for chlamys, grounded spear in right hand, parazonium in left, atop rostral column decorated with prows and anchors. RIC I 271.
I like this one for sure @Gam3rBlake. Augustus has some interesting coins (as if all the emperors didn't)
CAESAR DIVI F : this denarius of Octavian, not yet Augustus, represents an Octavian in the same attitude as the famous statue from Prima Porta : another later denarius
Nice examples! The OP coin is outstanding! This my lone denarius of Augustus, a local coin shop purchase this year, and a relatively common variety, with the Caius and Lucius Caesars reverse, for this emperor. Augustus, denarius, Lugdunum (Lyon) mint, 2 BC- AD 12. RIC I, 207 3.76 grams Laureate head right / Caius and Lucius Caesars standing facing, two shields and two spears between them; above, on left, simpulum right, and on right, lituus left.
Very nice example! Great purchase! Here's my Augustus coin, also a denarius. Augustus. 27 BC - 14 AD AR Denarius Lugdunum (Lyon) mint. Struck 2 BC-12 AD Laureate head right / Caius and Lucius Caesars standing facing; shields and spears between them with simpulum and lituus above 3.58 g, 18 mm, silver, chipped References: RIC I 207; RSC 43
