Three visits to the bank branch later, it literally is on the way home from work, over three successive days I finally found the teller that sold me the original coins on Tuesday. Unfortunately of the 25 rolls she had left she sold off 14 of the rolls to a business customer this morning. But I got the remaining 11 rolls: 3 1893 one of them in G4 1 1896 1 1898 2 1901 1 1904 1 1905 3 1906 1 1908 1 1910 3 1911 3 1912 Makes me wonder if some 1880s dates were lurking in the other 14 rolls, oh how I wish I could find them.
Yes, Liberty nickels 77 of them all total from 1891-1912-D. Probably one of my better CRH finds since 2011 when I scored 75 silver halves and 2013 when I got a solid roll of silver dimes.
Would the teller give you the name of the customer? Maybe they have not used them all yet. Worth a shot? Congrats on all your finds!
Having worked in a bank many years ago, that teller would probably get fired for divulging customer info.
I was thinking small town style, I'm very rural and everyone knows everyone, but you are probably and likely right. It was just a thought. There's only maybe a dozen small shops here so I would have gone to everyone asking.
Great deal and it should remind everyone to stop by your local bank, cause you never know what you might get. And put away those debit cards and use cash once in awhile, I got a 1964d quarter recently in change.
There are numismatic goodies to sell them at face, one of the tellers is a bit of a collector - and they can get candy, food etc - just nothing like gift cards, cash etc since that is a violation of the rules they have. So I am getting things together and paying a visit Monday.
