Here are a couple of Red Seal $2.00 I grabbed today while at my local bullion shop. I paid twice face for each of them.

The first, a crisp uncirculated Series 1963.

The second was a Series 1963A Star Note, not nearly as nice as the 1963, but it's my first older star. I figured for $4.00 what the hey.

    Those are nice.
What is the star and why is it on the bill?

The "star" is how the Bureau of Engraving and Printing prints them. They are only used to replace a defective note.

jtlee321, very, very nice pickups. For $4 each, why not? Good show and enjoy.
:) If they any more in such condition for $4 you might consider them, but be selective.

@techwriter I was pretty selective. Those were the only two I was willing to pay twice face for. The Unc was a no brainer to me.
