I just purchased on ebay a 2019 S SILVER Proof America The Beautiful Quarter Set w/ No Box or paperwork. Looks dcam from the pics. Only paid 19.99 including shipping. I was thinking about busting them out of the holder and putting each one in a coin capsule. QUESTION #1. Do you think think it would make any difference? Not like this is a big ticket item, just purdy coins in the late issue proof silver quarters I like so much. QUESTION #2. Do you think I would be better off buying raw silver DCAM quarters or PCGS certified PR69DCAM? Raw usually under $5.00 each and certified usually under $15.00 each.
It looks like each one is already in a capsule within the case. Regardless, I don't think it would matter if you removed them from the case. Chris
Congrats on the low-cost score. I agree it wouldn't make any difference if you removed them. Personally, I wouldn't because I find the govt packaging quite good, and you'd have 5 little pieces to store instead of one big one, and there would be more plastic in the landfill. I also don't see any reason to buy slabbed. The series is not high-dollar and since they're still in the govt packaging you already know with 99.999% certainty they are genuine and encapsulated since birth. Just my 2-cents worth.
And keeping them in the original package ensures they don't get hairlines, or exposed to something that might tarnish them.
One day they will all sell for the price if the silver in them. OGP is as good as TPG for authentication IMO. Paying triple for someone else to tell me it's real and almost but not quite perfect seems like a waste of money. I would rather have 3 than one that is re-holdered.
