i picked up a couple of interesting coins this week at least i find them interesting. the wash quarter is so heavily toned it almost looks black do you suppose it has been chemically heat treated? im somewhat ignorant and the toning in my scan lost alot in the process this thing is a dark rainbow tone...and of course the conspiracy dollar just couldnt say no but darn someone put some work into i guess it would be pressing the compass image into the coin. love to hear your thoughts.

I've seen that dark, slightly iridescent toning on silver before, so I have a fair idea of what your quarter looks like in hand. I'm not sure what causes it but I believe it is a combination of things. I bought some coins that had been stored in old WW2 envelopes in an attic here in SE coastal GA for 50-60 years. Some of the silver had that appearance. Combine the trace of sulfur in the paper of those old envelopes with the 110-120° heat in an attic here in summertime, and you can get toning like that over the long term.

The counterstamps on your Peace dollar are Masonic. They have nothing to do with "The Illuminati" or any conspiracies. They're just Masonic counterstamps. Pretty neat, though.
