Won this 1950 D/D quarter on Ebay tonight. http://www.ebay.com item number 330049914125. I can't find anything in the Redbook on a 1950 D/D...Hoping it is a D over S in that grade. Also won a full set of BU Roosevelt Silver Dimes for about 85 bucks item number 330049876049 and higher grade 1937-D Washington quarter for a pretty good price item number 330049927944 Looks like a real good seller judging by the feedback. Can't wait to see how the coins looks when I get them in hand!
Hi, Not to be too pessimistic...I looked at this persons other auctions. He is apparently doing the best he can to grade but most of his items are overgraded. There are some 1950 D/D varieties listed, at least two that I am aware of. If this is one, you could have done OK. It is of course difficult to tell anything by the picture that was used for the listing. The 1937 D, you paid a little more than retail for it in that condition. The dimes, I would want to have a closer look at to be sure they were all UNC. You may have done OK but it will all hinge on the 1950 D/D quarter. It is a $6.00 coin if it is not a real D/D and is just strike doubled. Good Luck, Bill
Thanks for for the reply. Judging by what people had to say in the seller's feedback sounded like the person undergraded alot of their coins. With those scanner pictures alot of the coins turn out to look worse then they really are. That is the first auction I saw that the seller actually said the coin was a ms-65. Hopefully it is what they say it is. If the dimes are all uncirculated that would be a pretty good bargain for all 48 uncs at 85 bucks. Can't wait to get the coins in the mail to see what they actually look like. I will post a picture of the 1950 D/D coin to see what you think as soon as it arrives. Thanks again.
Hi, It will be great to see what happens when you get the coins. If the dimes are in fact UNC, you did OK. It will be fun to see the picture of the mintmark on the D/D Have Fun, Bill
Got the coins today All the Silver Roosie Dimes were blast white (no toning) at least BU all 48 of them. Very happy. The 1937-D quarter is about EF-45 with some luster. The 1950-D quarter is blast white and very high grade ms-65 as advertised. Don't know much about the 1950 D/D to say if that is for real. My file is like 1.1 mg so it wont let me post a picture.
flyers10: As long as you are happy with your purchase that is all that counts, and you know that you didn't get hurt, especially at those prices. Good luck
Thanks. Certainly happy with the purchase. Just scratching my head about the 1950 D/D. Probably go to the local coin shop in the next few days and have them take a look. Beautiful coin just don't know much about the 1950 D/D variety.
I only have an older reference on Washington quarters, but I believe that there are a number of RPM's (re-punched mint marks) for the 1950D, just as there are for almost every date. If, however, the RPM is very strong, or widely separated, then it may be valuable. Who know's, you may even have a discovery coin.
Pictures. Hopefully it works. http://img329.imageshack.us/img329/852/img1828editedss2.jpg http://img435.imageshack.us/img435/4764/img1830cw8.jpg http://img329.imageshack.us/img329/2182/img1831dn4.jpg
Thanks Frank- I don't see it either but still all and all a pretty nice 50-D. Hope you have a great day out on the Island! Craig:hail:
Hi, I don't see any evidence of a D/D either and I played with a photo program to try to bring up anything that might be there. Still a nice 1950 d Washington. Have Fun, Bill
