Basically, I have been working on a type set for a while, with digressions here and there. I'll post some of my type coins now and then, please feel free to comment as to your likes or dislikes, I'm not looking for anything but honest opinions. Plus, I think it's helpful to know what other people are doing with their collections.

It's so nice to see a authentic SLD. :thumb: I've gotten so used to seeing counterfeits and I rarely see an authentic one. ;)

When you get tired of them, send them my way. :hail:

It has great luster. The little dark spot above the eagle's head isn't too noticeable in hand, but in the photo it looks like tar.

Kaz , this isn't the counterfeit thread:DJK. Now these are some nice type coins , I'm a Barber Half away from completing my 20th century set and then it's on to these beauties , Seated Liberties . Your three cent silver is beautiful , can't wait to see the rest .

Well, at least it wasn't one of those "potty" type dollars......:)

thanks for the comments, folks. Rusty, I'm going to have to buy some better "type" Barbers: my dime and quarter are both bright from dipping-- bought in my early days of collecting when I thought "bright is right." Now my thinking is more along the lines of "If the coin is 'lit', you must omit!"

here is a less beat up TD:

Note that this is a type I/II, which is scarce. the type II reverse dies arrived in Carson City late in the year and few were struck. 95% of this issue are type I/I.

Well my favorite out of the bunch is the SLD, then the two center. The three center and the second SLD has toning took dark for my tastes, but are still very nice coins. The first trade dollar is okay - reminds me of the potty dollar I saw this weekend at the local coin store. Nice batch of coins.

I agree that the trime is rather dark. I like coins with dark toning in the periphery, if the central devices stand out in contrast, but even that one is a bit dark. It's tough to find a natural looking 3c. silver: most are overly bright from dipping, or dark as soot. I think this one is attractive, but not my ideal. I should have been more patient; it will have to do for now.

P.S. The Trade dollars are nice too , the one I sent you to validate for me is one of my favorite coins hairlines and all .

Thanks, Rusty! Your TD is a cool coin, really! I think I will re-image the trime, I believe I underexposed it.

I don't have much copper. When I bought this FEC, the owner said "You're going to love this coin." He was right!

Well, I messaged Angel Dee's about obtaining a full strike FEC and discovered to my dismay that my only hope was MS63-64 minimum. After taking my meds, and realizing that I was not, in fact, JDR, BG, or Warren Buffett, I discovered the wonders of AU58!! That's what this coin is, PCGS graded, and I couldn't be happier. AU58 rocks!

Is it me or does anyone else see this.
Look at the date on the standing liberty between the 9 and the 1(in 1917)
It looks as if there is a 6 between them..
    Nice coin. I am jealous!
